Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company within a short time. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals for the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. Her family often relied on free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. She went to the local Catholic elementary school and started high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
